INTERGENERATIONAL WEAVING LAB DECEMBER 18 11-2 & 7-10 pm
Pay what you wish RSVP by DECEMBER 16 (SPACE IS Limited) Please bring yr masks.
DPA hosts Mae Colburn of Common Loom studios. This is an opportunity to meet in person and learn about weaving together. This introductory weaving lab is part of the developmental stage for an upcoming lab for children and teens DPA & Common Loom Studios will offer in summer 2022.
The process will reflect on the tools and techniques such as warping, as well as the inclinations of the weaver: play, attention, curiosity and growth. Together we will create our own frame looms, learn to warp our looms, and to weave. We will have the option to take our weavings off of the looms, finish the edges, and warp the looms again.
All ages welcome. Materials included.
Mae Colburn is a Brooklyn-based weaver, writer, and teacher. She is founder of Common Loom Studio, which offers informal loom residencies and produces handwoven rag rugs from commercial textile waste. Previously, she co-founded weaving and design collective friends of light, which produced handwoven jackets from locally-sourced wool. Mae currently works as archivist and studio manager for tapestry artist Helena Hernmarck.

HEALING PLANT JOURNEY | SUNDAY | DECEMBER 19 | 11-2 pm
Join us in a deep steeping in the wisdom and magic of the healing plants.
Our Wild Wise Green Relations – the Healing Plants – are here for us in so many ways. They nourish, heal, and inspire us. And we can call on them as partners in creative collaboration – making medicine and dreaming with them. We’ll begin in meditation to ground ourselves into the strength of the Earth and power of the Cosmos. We’ll journey to meet a personal plant ally for nurturing guidance and healing messages. We’ll bring back an image or words to craft a seed to plant in the Earth. Then, with presence, awareness, and loving intention, we’ll create an herbal elixir to help us embody the wisdom of the plants.
Bring what you need to feel comfortable. Wear cozy clothes and bring layers (and slippers, if you’d like!). Space is limited. Please come vaxxed and masked.
RSVP by December 16. Suggested exchange $100 includes all materials. Reach out for alternate payment arrangements. Cash or Venmo @Elizabeth-Neves-1 accepted.
Liz Neves is an herbal educator, dream guide, reiki & healing drum practitioner, and mama. TEXT WRITTEN FOR “DPA NETWORK”is inspired by mycelium and is process-based. It’s a choreography of live networking; a drawing of sorts, compiling links that direct to the processes and/or salable products, services of artists and makers who have been in a relationship with or are autonomous, yet interconnected to the choreography of DPA (brand.) DPA (brand) is re-imagining home-shopping right now and looking towards the natural forces of decomposition as well proposing to hold space like a “glitch” which could give us insight towards undoing habits and needs of immediacy in our experience as consumers.
DPA Network takes form for an audience in virtually streaming and digitally archived content. DPA Network is emergent during the outcome of a pandemic. It is an intentional space to choreographically problem-solve intimacy as an ingredient for the presentation of creative process DPA’s ongoing relationship to hospitality and cultivation within its practice. DPA Network format is unset and the duration is undetermined, though is set to run through 2021.
